Income Tax Calculator

Estimate your federal income tax, including self-employment income, the standard vs. itemized deduction, the QBI deduction, and the Child Tax Credit.

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Built for tax years 2025 and 2026 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), plus a projected 2027 view based on published projections (the IRS has not released official 2027 amounts yet). This estimator does not model the Alternative Minimum Tax, capital gains rate brackets, the Net Investment Income Tax, education or dependent care credits, specified-service-trade QBI limits, or the SALT cap phase-down above $500,000 AGI. State tax starts from federal AGI and applies that state's standard deduction and brackets (2025 published state figures are used for every tax year), but does not model state-specific addbacks, subtractions, credits, or city/county income taxes (New York City, Ohio RITA municipalities, Maryland counties, and similar). Head of household and married filing separately use each state's single-filer figures as an approximation. The Excel download includes live formulas for every dollar figure, so you can keep adjusting numbers offline and see it recalculate. Tax year, filing status, and state are fixed to what's selected here; re-export to change any of those three.
